Stuart Middleton Joins Ginetta Young Driver Programme

Ginetta is delighted to announce Stuart Middleton as the latest driver to join their Young Driver Programme. His appointment seeks to recognise their outstanding performance in British GT following a graduation from the Ginetta Junior Championship.

Middleton and driving partner Will Tregurtha became the youngest pairing in history to win British GT4 earlier this year, and they have today confirmed their plans to move into the 2018 GT4 European Series (formerly the Northern Cup) with their Ginetta G55 GT4 and HHC Motorsport.

Ginetta’s Young Driver Programme will support Stuart, 18, and Will, 17 during 2018 as they take their next steps towards a career in professional motorsport. They will both be offered the chance to participate in development roles including testing and shakedowns - giving them the opportunity to interact with and learn from Ginetta's expert engineers and testing teams - as well as being used as instructors at Ginetta's private test track, Blyton Park. The pair will also act as brand ambassadors for Ginetta.

Ginetta Motorsport Manager, Ashley Gallagher;“I am delighted to see Stuart and Will as the latest additions to our Ginetta Young Driver Programme. Both drivers have come through the Ginetta motorsport ladder, having started their car racing careers at our Junior scholarship, before joining the Junior championship itself, and are an excellent example of how great a training platform the Junior Championship is for a future in GT racing. The Young Driver Programme seeks to support talent as they forge a career in the sport, and I am sure there is a bright future ahead for both of them.”

Stuart Middleton, Ginetta Young Driver Programme; “I am incredibly grateful for this amazing opportunity Ginetta have given both Will and myself. Ginetta has been fantastic to me throughout my racing career and I wouldn’t be in this position I am in today without them. Ginetta introduced me to car racing with the Ginetta Junior Scholarship back in 2014, where I won the chance to race in the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2015 and these past three years have been truly amazing, sharing my success with the Ginetta family.

"I must say what a brilliant and formidable teammate I have in Will Tregurtha. Our team, HHC Motorsport are fantastic and collectively I’m relishing the prospect this role will give both of us working toward developing a professional motor racing career.”

Long-time members of the Ginetta family, both Stuart and Will started their sportscar careers with Ginetta. Stuart won the 2015 Ginetta Junior Scholarship, claiming the Ginetta Junior Winter Series in that same year. Tregurtha and Middleton were fierce rivals in the 2016 Ginetta Junior Championship, finishing first and second respectively.

After a superb season in the Ginetta G40s, the pair joined forces at HHC Motorsport (the same team that supported Tregurtha’s Junior success) for their British GT4 title tilt. They claimed seven podiums and two wins on their way to the title, earning them BRDC Rising Star status and a raft of industry awards.
