Double Points finish for De La Torre at Watkins Glen

The fourth round of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America championship took place at Watkins Glen over the weekend.

Starting from P10 for race 1, a great start saw Elias jump int P9 but on lap 4 Elias was pushed wide and dropped to P13. On Lap 9 Elias was hit again causing him to drop another position. A full cause yellow on lap13 for a car off in the gravel neutralised the race and bunched up the 34-car field, with the race restarting on lap 16 Elias got another great start and jumped into P13. On lap 16 another full course yellow was required to recover a damaged car but with time running out the race finished under yellow. A post-race penalty for the #2 elevated Elias into P12.

Race 2 would see Elias starting from P10 again, another fantastic start saw him move straight into P8 but a multi car accident eliminating 8 cars bought out the safety car. After a lengthy clean up the race restarted with only 18 minutes remaining and Elias was immediately involved in a fierce battle for P6 which would go all the way to the flag securing another points finish.

The next round of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America Championship is at Road America on August 16-18.
