10 Questions with Dean Macdonald

How old were you when you started racing?

I started racing competitively at the age of 8 but had been practicing in a kart since I was 3

Do you remember your first race if so where was it?

Yes, I remember it very well My first race was at PFI International in December 2008

Are you superstitious?

Yes, I am very superstitious but only on race and test weekends

Favourite colour and number?

Fluro orange and 51

Which racing driver has inspired you the most and why?

Senna because of how he made a name for himself and desire to win

How did you come up with the design for your helmet?

My current helmet was designed by MDM Designs and have stayed with that for a few years now

What is your favourite track and why?

I really like Spa because of Raidillon and Eau Rouge corners they are just awesome to drive but I also like Brands Hatch because that is where I got my first Pole.

Any disappointments this season?

I am disappointed with the start of my season but very happy with how it ended as I switched teams mid-season which is never good but it worked out very well for me

What was your best race this season and why?

Spa was my best race this season as we didn’t look like we could have won with the success penalty we had but we managed it and I got my first ever win in British GT, Donington was also very exciting as the race changed so much over the 2 hours and there was a lot to play for as I helped secure the drivers’ championship for my team mate Jack Mitchell

How would you sum up your season?

I would say my season had a lot of ups and downs but I learnt a huge amount which I will take forward into next season
