Jack Bartholomew Finishes 3rd in Asia Super Trofeo Championship

The final two rounds of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Championship took place at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy. Arriving at the circuit on Monday for a planned two-day test, Jack was greeted with heavy snow meaning testing was not possible until Wednesday in very cold conditions. Qualifying took place on Thursday with Jack opting to take the first 20-minute session, where he managed an excellent 4th fastest time for race one. Jack’s team mate, Australian Spike Goddard, took the 20-minute qualifying session for race two. Unfortunately, Spike went off the circuit at turn six early in the session, sustaining damage to the car and only managed to set 7th fastest time.

Jack started race one and was immediately challenging for 2nd position, a fight that would go on for 10 laps until he at last succeeded. The pit window opened for the mandatory driver swap and Spike took over. Bad luck struck again for the Australian driver when a car spun in front of him causing him to stop the FFF Lamborghini in order to avoid a collision. This caused him to lose five places. The safety car was deployed which luckily bunched up the field and once racing resumed, Spike managed to pass four cars in the final laps giving them 3rd place and a well-deserved podium.

Spike started race 2 from 7th on the grid and again was involved in an intense battle for position until the pit window opened. After a very slick pitstop, Jack took over the car, and rejoined the race in 4th position. Unfortunately, due to another crash, the safety car was deployed and a mistake by race control resulted in several cars, including Jack’s, losing their track position. Prior to the safety car deployment, Jack was expected to finish 2nd as his pace was superior to the cars in front of him. However, a fourth place finish gave him sufficient points to secure 3rd place in the overall championship.

Jack will now travel to Beijing, China, where he will be attending an event being held over three days for selected customers of Roger Dubuis, the Swiss watch maker who sponsor FFF Racing. Jack will be taking the guests for hot laps in a Lamborghini Huracan as well as undertaking driver coaching before the guests drive the car themselves. He will then return to the UK to start preparation for next season.
