Dorlin Delivers Best BTCC Weekend of the Season at Thruxton

James Dorlin produced his strongest performance of the 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season at Thruxton, securing two Independent class victories, a Jack Sears Trophy win and three top-ten finishes during an impressive weekend for Restart Racing.

After showing encouraging pace throughout qualifying, Dorlin lined up ninth on the grid for the opening race and immediately established himself in the battle for the top ten. Running amongst some of the championship's biggest names, he held off reigning champion Tom Ingram during the early stages before eventually taking the chequered flag in ninth place to score valuable championship points.

Race two proved to be one of Dorlin's standout performances of the season. Producing a measured and determined drive, he battled hard with Adam Morgan and Dan Cammish before capitalising on Morgan's mistake at Church Corner to move into sixth position. Maintaining an impressive pace throughout the race, Dorlin crossed the line sixth overall to claim his first Independent class victory of the weekend.

His sixth-place finish also put him into the reverse-grid draw for race three, with fortune smiling on the Restart Racing driver when his number was drawn to start the final race of the day from pole position.

Lining up alongside Tom Ingram, Dorlin made a strong start but was edged into second by the experienced Hyundai driver on the opening lap. Despite coming under relentless pressure from several of the championship's frontrunners following a mid-race Safety Car period, Dorlin produced another composed drive to finish sixth overall.

The result completed an excellent weekend for the Restart Racing driver, who secured a second consecutive sixth-place finish, a second Independent class victory of the day and another Jack Sears Trophy success.

Leaving Hampshire, Dorlin can reflect on a breakthrough weekend that showcased both his pace and racecraft against some of the BTCC's leading contenders. Three top-ten finishes, two Independent class victories and another Jack Sears Trophy win provide plenty of momentum heading into the next round of the championship at Knockhill.
