Clean sweep for Jack Bartholomew with pole position and two race wins in Dubai

Races three and four of the UAE Lamborghini Super Trofeo Championship took place on the Dubai Autodrome’s national circuit. This weekend Jack Bartholomew was joined by new team mate, James Pull, who raced in British F3 last year.

The task of qualifying for race one was given to Bartholomew who did not disappoint, putting the FFF Lamborghini Huracan on pole position. It fell to Pull to qualify the car for race 2, and despite being new to the car, he managed to qualify in p2, narrowly missing out on another pole position.

Bartholomew started race 1 in pole and thanks to a quick reaction as the lights turned green, he managed to hold his position down the main straight and into turn one and began to pull away from the rest of the field. As the pit window opened for the compulsory driver change, Bartholomew’s pace was so good that he pitted at the last minute before handing over to Pull. A slick pitstop enabled the number 5 Lamborghini to retain P1 in the race, which Pull managed to maintain to the chequered flag, claiming the pair’s first victory of the championship.

Race two took place on Saturday afternoon with James Pull starting in P2. On the run down to turn one, Pull was squeezed to the outside, dropping back to p5. He regained one place and by matching the lap times of the leading cars, he kept them in his sights until the pit window opened and he pitted for the mandatory driver swap. With Bartholomew now in the car, the Sussex driver set about catching the leaders. By lap 18 he was into 3rd position and by lap 20 he was up to 2nd position with the race leader in his sights. On Lap 23, Bartholomew passed the leader and proceeded to pull away, finishing 5 seconds ahead at the chequered flag, claiming the 2nd win of the weekend.

“We have been working so hard for this championship and to claim pole position and win race one was amazing. I felt really good going into race two and knew we would be strong and hoped for another win. It was fantastic to win both races. All my hard work training over the winter is really paying off now. My new team mate James did a great job too especially being new to the car. We get on really well and we are going to be a really strong pairing for the future races. The team worked really hard and did a fantastic job as always. I can’t wait until the next event”

Jack Bartholomew now leads the championship by 14 points with two races to go. The final two races of the championship take place again at the Dubai Autodrome but this time on the Grand Prix circuit configuration on March 2nd & 3rd.
