Sennan Fielding Shines in VdeV debut

Sennan Fielding completed an incredible comeback drive against all odds to win the opening round of the 2017 VdeV Championship with its #52 Ginetta G57-P2 at Circuit de Catalunya.
The no.52 Ginetta G57’s race was far from easy after starting from pole position new team mate Colin White had contact with a lapped car 40 minutes into the race putting the Ginetta into the gravel and sending the number 52 to the bottom of the timesheets losing 5 laps in the recovery.
After Colin (White) climbed out of the car and handed it over to Sennan (Fielding) it was game on. Sennan did an incredible job setting fastest lap and with a pace more than two seconds faster than the rest of the field ,with his double stint (2 hours) in the middle of the race the 21 year old from Chesterfield handed the car over to Robertson in an incredible 3rd place.
As night fell in the 4 hour endurance Robertson continued the chase and again set fastest lap and with less than 20 minutes remaining and fuel getting low he took the lead and crossed the line just 3.1 seconds ahead of the second-place runner to score his maiden overall VdeV victory.

“It was a real baptism of fire for me really having not tested the car before arriving in Barcelona. Getting into the car 5 laps down was a big ask but I felt really good in the car and was able to push from the beginning but I knew I had to remain calm and not over drive”.
“The car felt great though, and I had no issues all race long. I had to manage the tyres for my stint which is the longest I have ever driven a race car, but I really felt I could push hard. It was a really memorable drive and an incredible race. I felt like it had a season’s-worth of drama in just four hours. That’s what endurance racing is all about! I want to thank my team mates, Simpson Motorsport and Ginnetta for an awesome car”
The second round of the 2017 VdeV Series season is set to take place at the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal on the 28-30 April.
