Solid Points for Rabindra at Silverstone 500

Akhil Rabindra and Dean Macdonald started the fourth round of the 2017 British GT championship at Silverstone by qualifying 10th in the GT4 class (5th Silver paring).

The three-hour long 500 mile race on Sunday saw the Indian starting for the #59 Garage 59 outfit in his McLaren GT4 570s and made up four places to 18th overall on the opening lap.

Having run a couple of laps behind the sister car, Rabindra lost three places on Lap 6 after being pushed wide to drop to 21st, with #62 Academy Motorsport Aston Martin, #29 In2Racing's McLaren 570S and #51 Lanan Racing Ginetta moving ahead. Akhil managed to pass the #51 Ginetta ahead of the first pit-stop period - the #59 Garage 59 pitting on Lap 24 for Macdonald to take over.

Dean Macdonald took over the #59 McLaren and ran a steady race until the next mandatory stop on Lap 49, with Rabindra coming back in the car.

In the next stint, the team claimed a position on #46 Optimum Motorsport Ginetta, before the final stop on Lap 68 for Macdonald to see through the flag.

The British driver went through the laps unfazed and drove a solid stint to bring home the car in 9th in the GT4 class (fifth in Silver) to score crucial points for the championship.
