Strong British GT debut for Jesse Anttila

In his return to competitive racing Finnish driver Jesse Anttila arrived at the famous Spa- Francorchamps circuit in Belgium with only a handful of practice laps earlier in the week in the In2 Racing McLaren 570s GT4 car.

Teaming up with regular driver Marcus Hogarth in the Pro/Am class Jesse did not disappoint and the pair qualified the #29 car in P1 for race 1 and P2 for race 2 in the Pro-Am class.

With Hogarth taking the start for race 1 Hogarth had a strong first stint which included two safety cars and as the pit window opened Hogarth handed the car over to Anttila, with a success penalty from the previous race the car had to spend extra time in the pit stop.

An excellent stint from Jesse saw him involved some intense battles with the 20 GT4 car field but the Fin showed he had not lost any of his skill in his 18 month break from racing and managed to bring the car home in second place in the Pro-Am class.

Race 2 saw Anttila take the start in the extremely competitive field and a fantastic start saw him move up several places in the opening lap and holding on to second for much of his stint, as the pit window opened Jesse pitted and handed over to Hogarth who carried on the charge but on the last lap of the race he suffered contact whilst in an intense battle with 4 other cars but still crossed the line 3rd in the Pro-Am class.

“I am really happy with my first event in the British GT Championship and to finish 2nd and 3rd in the Pro-Am class is pretty good considering I only dove the car for the first time on Monday. I want to thank Marcus and the In2 Racing team who did a fantastic job all weekend. I’m really looking forward to the next round at Brands Hatch as I know there is still more to come from me.”

The next round is at Brands Hatch on 5th & 6th August.
