Solid Start for Stuart Middleton in Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America
ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (August 8, 2020) Stuart Middleton’s 2020 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Championship season kicked off at Road America this weekend with two-action packed races. The seven-time championship winning Prestige Performance with Wayne Taylor Racing team fielded five drivers in three classes (PRO, PRO|AM, LB CUP) in the opening event at the 14-turn, 4.048-mile historic road course.
Stuart Middleton and Stevan McAleer kicked off the weekend by qualifying the No. 1 Prestige Performance Lamborghini Super Trofeo in third and fourth position in the PRO class. Middleton and McAleer were in podium contention for both races, eventually bringing the No. 1 LST car home in fourth place in the PRO class for Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2020 season.
Stuart Middleton, No. 1 Prestige Performance Lamborghini Super Trofeo (PRO) “Stevan and I maximized what the car was capable of. We drove the thing to an inch of its life. I’m really disappointed with the results as I was expecting to be challenging for the lead. We need to have a major rethink and go back to the drawing board as we go into the next meeting. Unhappy with the result, but we’ll stay hopeful that we can make an impact at VIR in a couple weeks.
Stevan McAleer, No. 1 Prestige Performance Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo (PRO) “A little disappointing weekend as we had two fourth place finishes. Coming in here knowing we were in the No. 1 car I expected to fight up front. Stuart has a lot of pace, so it’s nice to run with him and he’s a good guy to be on the team with. We’re just going to regroup, make some changes to the car, and get back to winning races with Prestige Performance with Wayne Taylor Racing.”
The Prestige Performance with Wayne Taylor Racing team travels to VIRginia International Raceway for Rounds 3 & 4 of the 2020 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Championship on August 21st. Race coverage will broadcast live on IMSA.com/tvlive.
