Jack Bartholomew Opens 2021 Account With Thruxton Podium

Jack Bartholomew’s 2021 season got off to a fantastic start with a podium finish in the opening round of the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB at Thruxton. Following an impressive performance at Thruxton during the official pre-event test last month Porsche debutant Bartholomew led the charge in the Pro class. In tricky changing weather conditions on Saturday, the former one-make Lamborghini champion recorded the third quickest time of the Pros in qualifying. In his YESSS Electrical and Ecosphere backed Cayman, Bartholomew made steady progress in the opening race starting from 5th on the grid, on a drying track with slick tyres Jack dropped to 6th at the start but fought his way back to finish in fourth position.

For race two on Sunday which was live on ITV4 Jack delivered an outstanding performance. Conditions were dry but overcast with rain threatening. At the start Jack held on to his 4th position and within the next few laps had caught and passed the third placed driver, within another two laps he was up to second and chasing down the leader. With a shortened race of 12 laps Jack had to settle for second and a debut podium.

“After taking last year out due to the Covid pandemic it was great to be back racing again, the team gave me a fantastic car for my debut in the series and I’m really happy with the result considering I have never raced at Thruxton.

I’m really looking forward to the next round at Brands Hatch as it’s a circuit I have raced at and I feel we will be even stronger”.
