P7 for Yoder despite weekend of technical issues

Aidan Yoder finished in P7 from a P16 grid spot in race two of Sundays Toyota GR Cup at Sebring despite suffering technical issues all weekend.

Arriving Thursday for a pre-event test day Aidan was immediately hit by technical issues with his Toyota GR 86 after just one lap. The team worked hard to fix the electrical issue, but Aidan had lost valuable track time and the result was a qualifying position of P14 for race 1.

Taking the green flag on Saturday Aidan immediately started to push forward and by the end of the first lap had moved into P10 but the electrical issue struck again causing Aidan to pit and retire from the race.

The team worked hard along with TRD to pinpoint the problem overnight and replaced the wiring loom and ECU.

Starting from P16 on Sunday Aidan immediately went on the attack and by lap 2 was up to P13, as the field finished lap 3 a multi car incident into the final turn elevated Aidan into P9 but a Safety car was required to clear the damaged cars. After a lengthy full course yellow, the race resumed with just 20 minutes remaining on the clock, with the field bunched up Aidan slipped into P8 with a move in turn 3. For the next 15 minutes Aidan was battling with the #99 car for P7 and on lap 13 he managed to get by. As they started the final lap the #99 nudged Aidan back to P8 but with 2 corners to go Aidan retook the position to cross the line in in P7.

Aidan Yoder

“This was a frustrating weekend for me with the issues we had but a big thank you to the team for working hard to find the problem. Starting from P16 was always going to be tough so to finish in P7 and salvage some valuable points was a good way to end the weekend”.
