Tough Weekend for Yoder at Road America
Aidan Yoder endured a character-building weekend at Road America over the weekend in the fifth round of the Toyota GR Cup North America.
After securing his first podium of the season at Nashville Aidan was confident of another strong result as they began testing on Thursday. Unfortunately, in the afternoon session Aidan hit the wall heavily damaging his race car beyond repair. Precision Racing LA immediately began preparing another car for him so he could continue his race weekend and with a huge effort from the team Aidan was back out for the final session on Friday afternoon in a new race car but had lost valuable track time.
During race one on Saturday Aidan struggled with tyre temperature for the duration of the race and a puncture eventually ended any hopes of a strong finish.
Hoping to put his bad luck behind him Aidan’s hopes were dashed during qualifying when a red flag was shown before he had set a competitive time meaning he would start race 2 from P23.
Determined to end the weekend on a high Aidan immediately went on the attack as the green flag waved and at the end of lap one had moved up 5 places, during the next 6 laps Aidan continued to set personal best lap times as he charged through the field and by the end of lap 6 was up to an amazing P8. The safety car was called for to retrieve a stricken car on lap 7 and the field were bunched up for the restart, with his pace Aidan could now challenge for a podium, but bad luck struck again with another puncture ending his strong challenge.

“This was definitely a weekend of challenges for me but there are lots of positives to take away, our pace in race two was really strong and we were definitely in with a shout of a podium from P23 on the grid , we also learnt a great deal with car set up which we will take to the next round at Sebring”.
